Important: If you are looking for information on Alcoholics Anonymous please call (312) 346-1475. Calling is the best way to receive help in a timely manner.

Off-Hour Answering Committee

The purpose of this special committee is to recruit, train, and schedule AA volunteers to answer calls received by the Chicago Area Service Office (CASO) when it is closed. The calls are routed to the volunteers’ personal phones.

Membership on this committee is open to any interested AA member.

There is no sobriety requirement to participate in committee activities (e.g. monthly business meetings, trainings). There is a one-year minimum sobriety requirement to answer the phones for CASO.

Persons wishing to be phone volunteers should attend a training. Phone volunteer training comprises reviewing the Volunteer Guidelines and discussing best practices with experienced volunteers. Trainings run just over an hour in length.

If you’d like to volunteer to answer the phones, or, if you have questions, comments or concerns about Off-Hour Answering operations, please contact us using the link below.
