What is the All Chicago Open?
We welcome thousands of A.A. members from around the country to an OPEN meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. This meeting is OPEN to anyone to attend including friends, family members, and non-drinkers The program includes two distinguished speakers from the Chicagoland chosen carefully by their peers to share experience, strength and hope.
Volunteers will also be available to discuss the disease of alcoholism and service opportunities. The large literature table, sobriety countdown, and much more are not to be missed.
What does the All Chicago Open celebrate?
We are celebrating the first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting held in the Chicago area. The first meeting in Chicagoland was held September 20th, 1939, in the apartment of Earl and Katie T. Sober since 1937, Earl met with 5 other alcoholics and two non-alcoholics present that night.
Who can attend?
EVERYONE! Whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic that is interested in the topic of alcoholism, all are welcome —especially newcomers.
How can I get more involved and volunteer to be of service?
We are looking for committee members and volunteers. Please help during the event as a greeter, a collector of the 7th tradition, a “ssssssssssshushers”, at the literature table or in other ways.
Volunteers should arrive at 4pm the day of the event to receive an assignment.
